Add the iOS app to your MDM

Use this article if you push the Mobile Locker iOS app to iPhone and iPad with Microsoft Intune or another mobile device management (MDM) product. The app is in the Apple App Store. You add it as a store app. You do not wrap an IPA or sideload a file.

For Windows PCs, see Deploy the Windows app with Intune. That process uses a signed Setup EXE, not the App Store.

Before you start

Confirm each target device meets these requirements:

  • iPhone or iPad with iOS 18.6 or later
  • The device is enrolled in your MDM
  • Users can sign in to Mobile Locker after the app is installed

Most people can also install the app themselves from the App Store. Use MDM when your company blocks the public store or when you want to assign the app as Required.

App Store details

Give these values to your MDM when you add a store app:

Item Value
App name Mobile Locker
Apple ID 441943186
Bundle ID com.kazaam.mobilelocker
App Store URL https://apps.apple.com/app/mobile-locker/id441943186
Short download link https://app.mobilelocker.com/downloads/ios

You can also search the App Store for mobile locker.

If your company uses Apple Business Manager or volume purchasing, add Mobile Locker from the App Store there first. Then assign the licensed store app in your MDM.

Add the app in Intune

Add Mobile Locker as an iOS store app, not a line-of-business IPA.

  1. In Microsoft Intune, go to Apps > iOS/iPadOS > Add.
  2. Choose iOS store app.
  3. Search for Mobile Locker, or paste the App Store URL above.
  4. Confirm the publisher and the Apple ID 441943186.
  5. Assign the app as Required or Available, as your IT policy prefers.

Intune then installs the app from the App Store. Apple delivers updates through the store. That is an in-place update of the same app. It does not wipe the user's login or downloaded presentations. You do not wrap a Setup file or turn off a public feed the way you do for the Windows app.

Updating the app

Keep the same store-app assignment when a new version is in the App Store. That keeps each person's login and downloaded presentations.

Mobile Locker for iOS is the public App Store app (Apple ID 441943186, bundle ID com.kazaam.mobilelocker). Assign it as an iOS store app, not a line-of-business IPA.

Update in place. Leave the existing store-app assignment. Sync VPP or the App Store so the new version is available. Let Apple or your MDM push an update of the same app.

Do not delete the app from devices, remove the assignment and add it back, recreate the Company Portal or VPP entry as a new app, or upload a new IPA for a version bump. Many MDMs uninstall the app when you remove the assignment. If your MDM is set to uninstall the app when the assignment is removed, moving people between groups wipes the install.

What users see depends on how you ship the new version:

How IT ships it User signs in again? Re-download presentations?
In-place update of the same store app No (Face ID or Touch ID only, if biometrics are on) No
Uninstall plus install, or a new assignment that replaces the app Yes Yes

The first time someone installs Mobile Locker, they still open the app and sign in with their Mobile Locker account. That is unchanged. A later in-place update does not require that sign-in again.

Other MDM products

The same App Store listing works in Jamf, Workspace ONE, and other MDMs that can assign an iOS store app.

  • Use Apple ID 441943186 or the App Store URL.
  • Assign the public store app. Do not upload an IPA unless Mobile Locker support has given you a special build.
  • Require iOS 18.6 or later.
  • When a new version ships, update the same store app in place. Do not replace the assignment. See Updating the app.

After a first install, the user opens Mobile Locker and signs in with their Mobile Locker account. An in-place update of the same store app does not require sign-in again, and it does not make them re-download presentations.
