How to Convert PowerPoint to PDF the right way

Microsoft PowerPoint is great for developing interactive presentations. For example, you can create links from one slide to another.

You can upload PowerPoint files into Mobile Locker and open them in the PowerPoint app, but we also convert them to PDF for maximum compatibility.

If you upload the PowerPoint file into Mobile Locker, the links should work just fine. If they don't, convert it to PDF on your computer and then upload it. This article explains how to do this.

In this article

Convert PowerPoint to PDF on Windows

In Microsoft PowerPoint, click File > Export > PDF

Convert PowerPoint to PDF on a Mac

If you're using a Mac, the intra-slide links won't work when converting a PowerPoint to a PDF file unless you do it correctly.

This is a limitation of Microsoft PowerPoint on macOS, not Mobile Locker.

The way that doesn't work

If you click File > Export > PDF, hyperlinks to other slides will not work.

The way that works

You need to have Adobe Acrobat Pro installed on your computer. If installed, you will see an Acrobat tab in PowerPoint like this:

Click Create PDF. The links in the PDF generated by this method will work.

Convert PowerPoint to HTML

If your PowerPoint presentation has animations or other interactive features, those won't work when converted to a PDF file. You can purchase and use the iSpring Converter Pro plugin for PowerPoint, which lets you turn a PPTX file into an HTML file. Animations, links, etc., convert almost flawlessly.
