How to use Contact Scanner on Windows

Contact Scanner photographs a badge, card, or other text with a name or contact details (printed or handwritten). The Windows app reads text, not faces. Business card capture as a separate product is out of scope on Windows. Prefer Contact Scanner.

Open Contact Scanner

1. In the left sidebar, click Contact Scanner.
2. The page title is Contact Scanner. Click Scan (camera icon) to capture.

You may see a hint to use Congresses and Scan Attendee when you are at an event, so the lead links to that congress.

Scan

1. Click Scan. The capture screen title is Scan Contact.
2. The idle screen says Scan a business card or badge. Optional: click Scan Language so the app reads text in the language you expect.
3. Click Choose Image. Pick a JPEG, PNG, BMP, or WebP file. (The Windows capture path uses an image file, not a live iPhone camera shutter.)
4. Wait while the app uploads and identifies the person. Then review the result, edit fields if needed, and save.

You need a network connection to identify and enrich a scan.

History

On Contact Scanner you can:

• Search history (Search Contact Scanner history).
• Click Refresh to fetch the latest results from the server.
• Open a row to see detail.

Empty state: No Contact Scans Yet.

At a congress

When the person should be an event attendee, open Congresses, open the event, and use the attendee capture / Scan Attendee path instead of standalone Contact Scanner. That keeps the lead on the congress list.
