Battery restrictions and background sync on Android

If Content Library, CRM customers, or congress lists never refresh on Android, the device may be stopping the app in the background. This is common on Android 12 and later, especially on Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and other OEM skins.

Mobile Locker has no in-app "ignore battery optimizations" switch. Use Android Settings plus the sync options inside the app.

In-app sync settings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Turn on Allow Updates Over Cellular if you need presentation updates on cellular or hotspot. The help line says installed presentation updates may auto-download on cellular or hotspot.
  3. Set Sync Frequency if your team shows that control (how often the app looks for catalog and related updates).

Wi-Fi that needs a hotel or conference login page will also block refresh until you sign in through a browser.

Android battery and background limits

  1. Open the device Settings app (not Mobile Locker Settings).
  2. Tap Apps, then Mobile Locker.
  3. Open Battery (wording varies). Prefer Unrestricted or turn off battery optimization for Mobile Locker while you are at a congress or if CRM never updates.
  4. Confirm the app is allowed to run in the background, and that Data usage is not set to pause Mobile Locker when unused.

Work profile devices can have extra limits. If Mobile Locker is in the work profile, ask IT before changing those settings. See company-managed Android work profile in this category.

Maker-specific battery savers

Some phones add a second battery manager on top of Android:

  • Samsung: Device care / Battery, then background usage limits. Remove Mobile Locker from sleeping or deep-sleeping apps.
  • Xiaomi / HyperOS: Battery saver and autostart. Allow autostart for Mobile Locker.
  • Other makers: look for "app launch", "protected apps", or "battery optimization" and allow Mobile Locker.

Do not leave the app force-stopped. A force stop blocks background sync until you open the app again.

If sync still fails

  1. Open Mobile Locker while you have a stable network and pull to refresh Content Library.
  2. Reload CRM customers from customer search if that list is empty or stale.
  3. Send diagnostic logs from Settings if support asked for them.
  4. Include your Android version, maker (Samsung, Pixel, and so on), and whether the app is in a work profile.
